Bungmati and Khokana are the places not to be missed while you are in Nepal. The villages have a very rural feel to them, although still being located in Kathmandu valley territory.
BungamatiVilalge: A typical Newari village, lying 11km/7miles south of Kathmandu, founded in the 7thcentury AD, is said to be home to one of the most important God of Kathmandu Valley,Matsyendrantha – the God of Rain and compassion. He is being worshipped equally by Hindus and Buddhists. He was credited by the people for introducing rice plantation in the valley. A tour of this village combined with a taste of the Khokana culture, provides an experience that will not be forgotten easily.
Khokana Village: Khokana is a small Newari Village on the Southern Flank of Kathmandu Valley and about 11km/7miles from Kathmandu City established in 7th century AD by the mighty Licchhavi rulers of Nepal. It is a unique village in the Kathmandu Valley because of its seclusion from modern civilization.
You can enjoy a full day sightseeing in Bungmati and Khokana as part of your private day tour and return to the hotel in Kathmandu afterwards.
