Namo Buddha - Panauti trekking is a short one day hike around Kathmandu Valley that allows you to visit the holy shrine of Namo Buddha and an old Newari town of Panauti as well as to experience beautiful views of Himalayan peaks.

The journey starts with a short drive from Kathmandu to Namo Buddha. Perched at an altitude of 1800m, Namo Buddha is a Buddhist shrine where legend speaks of a pre-Shakya Buddha who sacrificed himself in order to feed the hungry tigress and her cubs. Just nearby is the recently built Tibetan Thrangu Tashi Yangtse monastery. Namo Buddha offers beautiful views of surrounding green hills and a panorama of Himalayan peaks on a clear day.

The trek from Namo Buddha to Panauti passes through villages and paddy fields with potato fields. Panauti is an ancient Newari town believed to established by King Bhupatindra Malla. Papanui is located at the auspicious confluence of Roshi Khola & Punyamata Khola and hosts the sacred Indreswor temple and Mahadev temple. Narrow cobbled alleyways, beautifully carved windows, struts, and doors and Newari lifestyles will leave you mesmerized.

You will drive back to Kathmandu on the same day or following day depending on your interests.
